What does NIL stand for?

Name, Image, and Likeness gives athletes the right to pursue endorsements at D1, D2, D3 college levels and some high schools (depending on athlete's state laws)

Are there businesses and products prohibited under NIL endorsements?

Although it varies state by state, the common prohibited companies and products are alcohol, tobacco, drugs, firearms, gambling, and adult themed goods and services. Stay away from all companies and products prohibited by NIL (no matter how much money they offer).

What are some of the factors that will enhance a NIL endorsement opportunity?

Some key factors are: The athlete's performance in sports, the authenticity of the athlete's products and goods they represent, the athlete's number of social media followers, the current brand of the athlete, and the athlete's authentic desire to give back to their community by supporting their favorite charitable/environmental/social/political causes. Let JSE help you develop your brand.

What are some common mistakes an athlete makes when they receive a monetary NIL endorsement?

The athlete must remember to put aside some funds (JSE recommends about 40-50%) of the NIL amount for federal and state taxes. In addition, be conscious of your social media post and the message they carry. (For example, posting a pic of yourself on social medial drinking Pepsi when you just signed a Coke NIL endorsement). Furthermore, JSE recommends the athlete to start a Roth IRA when they receive an endorsement. Finally, make sure your NIL agent knows which organizations to register in each state to process NIL endorsement deals. JSE knows these multiple organizations. Do you? Contact us for more information.

What are some things an athlete/parents can do now to prepare for a NIL endorsement?

(1) Concentrate on developing your athletic abilities and study habits in the classroom, (2) Develop your public speaking abilities, (3) Obtain knowledge on financial matters (budget, savings, investing, etc., (4) choose a NIL agent who has integrity, resources, and knowledge of how the NIL process works. Contact JSE now for more NIL strategies and branding ideas.
